Paulista avenue was inaugurated on December 8th , 1891, a design by Uruguayan architect Joaquim Eugenio de Lima. In 1903, it became the first paved road and the first road with trees on the curb in the city. The avenue harbors one of the largest complexes of business offices, and financial centers of Latin America, and the headquarters of institutions such as FIESP, SENAI, SESC, and SESI, as well as major banks. Nearly 450 thousand people come to this region every day and the subway runs along its, 2,8 km of extension.
